Online Art Class - Weekly Updates:
Week 6:
This was the last week of art :(. I finished my stippling drawing, and I'm thrilled with how it turned out! I've loved all of the projects we have done this year. I'm so grateful for Brit and Nisty and for everything they have taught me.

Week 5:
This week I had a lot of work in my other classes; I was overwhelmed. It was very nice to be able to sit down every day and take a break to create art. This week I finished the feathers/body on my drawing and plan to finish the head and refine it next week. We also completed a peer critique this week.

Week 4:
I spent most of my week and weekend painting a surfboard for my Personal Philosophy Project in Humanities. It took me about 8 hours to finish the board. But, the results were amazing, it's exactly how I wanted it to turn out, I'm so proud of my work and the meaning behind it. I didn't have very much time to work on my stippling drawing, but I was able to get a good start and will continue it next week.

Week 3:
This week I watched videos on Brits DP and on youtube about stippling and how to do it properly. I continued to sketch and refine my drawing; I had to start over a few times because the feathers didn't have very much dimension. I think I am getting close to being finished I might go back and add last-minute details, but I am ready to start stippling next week!

Week 2:
This week I spent more time outside looking for inspiration for what I would like to draw. I ended up taking some more pictures of my chickens and decided to create a stipple drawing of my chicken Tillie.
I gridded out my paper, got the correct measurement, and was able to start sketching it. My hope is that next week I will finish my sketch and then start stippling.

Week 1:
These past few weeks I have loved being able to spend quality time in nature, with my chickens, dogs and rabbit. We've been enjoying the beautiful weather on our little farm. I've had many photo-ops with the animals, and got some great shots of my chickens. I really wanted to create a stipple painting of my girl Peaches. I recently got new paints for my Humanities' Philosophy project, painting a surfboard. I've been working on my board this week and creating this stipple painting.

Oil Pastels
This is still a work in progress, but I love how it's turning out. This drawing really resinates with me and reminds me of special times. I love the outdoors, traveling and surfing. My dad grew up surfing and is teaching me, so this drawing has personal significance. I'm pleased with how my blending, and highlights came together. It looks almost identical to my reference photo and looks very professional. I love this piece and look forward to finishing it. However, while working on this drawing I had some trouble with stippling (a technique that is used when working with oil pastels that uses dots to create texture). When stippling, clumps of the pastel came off on my drawing and it didn't come out how I would have liked. If I were to do this project again, I would have gotten guidance from Nisty (our art teacher), about stippling and how to better execute that technique.

Oil Pastels
For the last part of the semester, we were assigned a final project of our choice. I chose to finish the surfing pastel drawing I was working on. This piece took up most of my time, but I'm very pleased with how it turned out. With the remainder of my time, I drew a wave with pastels. I used blending and stippling to create the flowing effect of the wave and spray of the water. I am happy with how the blending and stippling turned out, but I wish it looked more like the original image. I also started to draw a picture of my trip to Playa Guiones in Nosara, Costa Rica; I am still working on this piece. I'm pleased with how it's turning out and look forward to finishing it. I drew both of these because of my love for the beach and ocean. I had an incredible time in Playa Guiones; I took beautiful photos and wanted to recapture my time there with a drawing.
